arrow suggestions for a woman????
« on: May 29, 2012, 12:47:50 PM »
Im noob when it comes to arrow building and arrow technology, I simply shoot what was recommended to me when I bought my bow. But now my wife passed her hunter safety this last week :IBCOOL: and I feel like getting at least a little more involved in putting it together other than what gets recommended to me and I want to shop around for the best deal since we are on a budget of sorts. So the grand question is what should I be looking for. Not looking for top of the line dump your wallet arrows but more of a quality bang for buck entry level arrow and a little bit of forgiveness. we went to get measured up and at the moment she can only pull 23# ( just had a c section less than 2 months ago) and has a draw length of 23in. We are hoping to get cranked up to legal poundage by season and maybe 50lb pull next summer. Any recommendations on arrow weight/type/length and tip weight etc etc would be great.

like i said Im a total newb at putting arrows together and I would search the interwebs for information but theres so much and a lot is outdated so Id figured id just ask around and gain some real up to date knowledge and suggestions. thanks everyone!

btw she tried a mission riot and seems to like it and I like the fact that by the time my wife would ever want a new bow my daughter would be big enough to shoot this bow cranked back down.

I would try the Easton Storm 500's. They are usually around $60/dozen (fletched w/ Blazers), and a great starter arrow but not very strait for flying broadheads...Come hunting season you could bump her up to the Beman Bowhunters 500 ($85 w/ Blazers) or Beman Hunters 500 ($100/dozen) (same as the Bowhunters, just a little straiter for better broadhead flight). The Bowhunters fly very similar to the Storms and you would need very little adjustments between the two shafts. I have had very few issues with mine, and they are not too heavy so I get fairly strait arrow flight (I can only pull 44 lbs, so a heavy arrow really arches even at 30 yds), but yet heavy enough to get good penatration.

Easton also make the Ion arrows ($105/dz fletched w/ blazers) that are designed for light weight poundage and shorter draws.
